FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to transgenic tobacco plant cell, transgenic tobacco plant, tobacco plant material to obtain a greater quantity of C2C16:0, C2C17:0 and C2C18:0 esters of sucrose, as well as to a smoking product containing the above plant material or a part of this plant. A method for increase of the number of C2C16:0, C2C17:0 and C2C18:0 esters of sucrose, at least in a part of tobacco plant is revealed, as well as a method for obtaining of a composition containing one or more sucrose ester. The invention also relates to a method for production of beta-methyl valeric acid.
EFFECT: invention allows to effectively increase the amount of sucrose esters in a tobacco plant.
