FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining corrosion rate of metal materials placed in electrolyte contains stages for automatic determination of current corrosion dependence from the electrode potential, and automatic linear approximation of the obtained Tafel dependence in logarithmic coordinates in the presence of experimental errors, the sections for linear approximation are selected by means of length variation and position of sections on experimental dependencies of current from voltage till maximum product of valid approximation of anode and cathode sections is reached by straight lines under condition, that the point of intersection of these straight lines in potential deviates is not more than by a given experimental value from the potential of the minimum current on the voltage-current curve.
EFFECT: automation detection of faradic current as a corrosion current.
