SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the transmission of a multimedia transport packet in a multimedia transport system of the Expert Group on Cinematography (MPEG-2) standard. A method for transmitting media data is proposed, comprising: generating at least one multimedia data packet in connection with a multimedia transmission unit. The multimedia packet includes a packet header and payload data; and transmitting the said at least one multimedia data packet. The payload header includes: identification information identifying the multimedia transmission unit corresponding to the payload data; fragment indication information indicating information associated with fragmentation of the data block in the payload; a flag indicating whether the aggregated data blocks are included in the payload; a counter value associated with the number of subsequent payloads fragmented from the multimedia transmission unit; type information indicating the type of the data included in the payload.
EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of transporting MPEG in a conventional multimedia service environment based on the Internet protocol.
