SUBSTANCE: invention relates to encapsulation of MPEG media transport (MMT) assets in international organisation for standardisation (ISO) base media files. To this end, a method for transmitting media content in a multimedia system comprises steps of: configuring media data of media content in at least one data block, wherein each of the at least one data block includes at least one subblock; configuring a payload for transmitting media data, the payload including one or more sub-blocks; and transmitting the configured payload, the payload including offset information indicating the position of the subblock in the data block.

EFFECT: technical result is facilitating the confirmation of the media position of each subblock in the data block included in the payload, by using the offset information and sample number, and implementing adaptive media transfer.
