FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: device (100, 100') is proposed that is configured such that the passage of fluid (30) through the open port of the distal end (112, 112') provides determination of the substance (116) that may be present on a surface (31, 33), for example the tooth surface, based on measurement of the signal correlated with the substance, at least partially impeding fluid (30) passage through the open port. The apparatus (100, 100') includes a proximal pumping portion (124) and at least one distal portion (110) of the probe, configured to be immersed in another fluid (11), for example water in the toothpaste foam. The corresponding system (3000) includes one or two such devices (3100, 3200). A method for determination of substance presence on a surface includes probing of the interaction zone (17), at least for a partial obstruction of the second fluid (30) flow through the distal end of the probe.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determination.
