FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: cable isolator comprises a plurality of pneumatic air bearing cylinders. Traveler is connected to the free ends of the piston rods of said air bearing cylinders. Cable is affixed to the traveler and a payload. Cable is stretched over a pulley. Linear rail and carriage system, which guides said traveling assembly. Pulley, pneumatic air bearing cylinders and shaft are attached to a chassis. Pneumatic system comprises an air source and an air pressure regulator for delivering a controlled portion of compressed air to the air bearing cylinder inlets by means of an air duct. Suspension and vibration isolation system comprises a plurality of cable isolators.
EFFECT: actual elimination of rest friction is achieved and the system can be tuned to the required resonant frequency to protect the payload from vibrations in the desired frequency band.
