FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing polycyclopropane hydrocarbons of the general formula , R=R'=Me; R=R'=(CH2)4, (CH2)5; R=Me, R'=cyclo-Pr; R=Me, R'=Ph. The invention is characterized by the fact that 6.6-di-substituted fulvenes of the general formula , where R=R'=Me; R=R'=(CH2)4, (CH2)5; R=Me, R'=cyclo-Pr; R=Me, R'=Ph, are subjected to interaction with diiodomethane (CH2I2) and triethylaluminium (Et3Al) with a molar ratio of 1,1-di-substituted fulvenes : CH2I2 : Et3Al=1:(2-5):(2-5), in the environment of hexane, in an argon atmosphere at 20°C and atmospheric pressure for 6 h. The yield of polycyclic hydrocarbons (1) is 58-98%.
