FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method for processing spent molybdenum-aluminium-containing catalyst comprises treating the catalyst with a solution of soda, sintering of catalyst, leaching the cake with water and precipitating calcium molybdate with calcium chloride at pH of 6.5-6.8 and a temperature of 95-100°C. Grinding is carried out before sintering. The ground catalyst is mixed in a 10% strength solution of sodium carbonate at a ratio of T:W=1:2 and the mixture is kept for 2-4 h. Then the mixture is further added to sodium carbonate and sintered. The calcium molybdate obtained after precipitation is treated with a solution of sodium carbonate, calcium molybdate is recovered and repulped in a solution containing an aliphatic monobasic monocarboxylic acid.

EFFECT: increasing the efficiency of the process and the purity of the product obtained.
