FIELD: crop growing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plant protection and is intended to identify contamination of wheat seeds by causative agent of septoria leaf and spike. Method comprises incubating seeds in refrigerator at temperature of plus 10 °C for 7 days, at temperature of minus 20–25 °C for 24 hours followed by ultraviolet irradiation at plus 20–22 °C for 4–5 days. 50 seeds are sterilized with 5 % sodium hypochlorite solution for 1–2 seconds, at distance of 1–1.5 cm from each other on plastic substrates treated with 70 % ethyl alcohol, with 2 layers of filter paper and layer of sterile absorbent cotton wool with further placement of substrates with seeds in new plastic bags and fixing edges. After incubation and irradiation, seeds and seedlings are examined under stereoscopic microscope or using magnifying glass, infected seeds are identified by tubercles and pycnidia on coleoptile, pycnidia on ungrown seeds, twisting and deformation of coleoptile.

EFFECT: method ensures simplification and acceleration of identification seed contamination by causative agent of septoria.
