FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: fuel assembly (FA) of nuclear reactor comprises fuel elements with nuclear fuel, some of which may have burnable absorber, each of which has a shell of zirconium alloy, sealed by butt resistance welding using a plug and a collet tip located in the hole of the bottom grid. The outer surface of the fuel element, at least the shell, the plug and the welded joints, have a coating in the form of a thin layer of chromium. There is also a method for producing the fuel assembly of the nuclear reactor.
EFFECT: group of inventions allows to create a design of a fuel assembly excluding a steam-zirconium reaction, which reduces the damage to the shells of the fuel elements during production of the fuel assembly.
