SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a security element comprising a pattern of at least three layers, the first layer comprising a first material that is capable of interacting with the first electromagnetic radiation, but does not interact with the second and third electromagnetic radiation, the second layer contains a second material, that is capable of interacting with said second electromagnetic radiation, but does not interact with the first and third electromagnetic radiation, and the third layer comprises a third material, that is capable of interacting with the third electromagnetic radiation, but does not interact with the first and second electromagnetic radiation, wherein said pattern provides a visual motion effect by sequential illumination using a light source capable of separately emitting at least said first, second and third electromagnetic radiation.
EFFECT: present invention also relates to the content of a security element, the use of a security element for protecting a security document against tampering or illegal reproduction, a method for manufacturing a security element or a security document, and a method for creating a visual motion effect by sequentially lighting a security element.
