FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metal forming and can be used in the manufacture of parts of a complex profile. Upsetting matrix comprises a banding ring with an inner conical surface and an insert with an outer conical surface and a cavity having a diameter difference. Insert is pressed into the shroud ring with variable interference. Tension is formed by the difference between the inner diameter of the shroud ring and the insert, which is different at opposite ends of the matrix. Insert in the place of the diameter difference of the cavity is made with stepped holes. Part of the stepped holes with a diameter of 0.2–0.5 mm is located on the side of the insert cavity. Part of the holes with a diameter of 1–4 mm is located on the side of its outer surface of the insert. On the said surface, at the outlet of the holes, longitudinal grooves are made, the number of which coincides with the number of holes.

EFFECT: as a result, the cyclic stability and strength of the matrix are increased.
