SUBSTANCE: method of operating a two-section traffic light with installed red and green light-emitting modules, that consists in switching on the modules in the sequence determined by the signals of the traffic light controller, with a countdown indication by symbols corresponding to the colour of the swithed on green or red module, each module contains alternating or bicolour red and green light emitting elements, while the red module is switched on, the green module indicates a time change from the moment the red signal is switched on until its completion, when the green module is switched on, the red module indicates a time change from the moment the green signal is switched on until its completion, the function of the yellow module is executeb by both green and red modules due to the simultaneous switching on each of the modules of the green and red light emitting elements. The yellow signal of the traffic light glows along the contour of the red and green module.

EFFECT: improving the safety of vehicles due to fast, error-free recognition of the traffic light signals by all traffic participants.
