SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the field of identification of eggs. Egg identification system for determining avian egg viability contains: conveyor system for moving the tray for eggs and eggs; emitter assembly configured to emit electromagnetic radiation toward an egg; contactless detector assembly, axially aligned with the emitter assembly; and a processor, for processing the output signal of a non-contact detector assembly to determine whether there exists a periodic variation or an aperiodic perturbation in an intensity of the electromagnetic radiation transmitted through the egg In this case, the contactless detector assembly is configured to detect electromagnetic radiation and is arranged such that the egg, located for identification, spaced-apart from the contactless detector assembly. In this case, this change in intensity corresponds to the work of the heart or to the movement of the embryo, and the presence of one of the periodic and aperiodic changes indicates the viability of the egg. Method for determining the viability of an egg is also provided.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides a system of translucence determining the heart contractions, which does not contact the egg and ensures the absence of cross contamination.
