FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to separation or sorting of ore materials by dry process, in particular, to dry enrichment of diamond-bearing ore using radiation methods, namely with measurement of secondary emission of characteristic nuclear gamma radiation produced under action of fast labeled neutrons. Separator for dry enrichment of diamond-bearing ore contains ore supply system for supplying diamond-bearing ore to neutron block. Neutron block is provided with neutron generator for generating flux of labeled neutrons and alpha particles, in which multi-element alpha detector is built-in. Separator also contains two groups of gamma-ray detectors. Detectors of the first group are located around and outside labeled neutron flux and are protected from direct hit of labeled neutrons flux in them. Detectors of second group are located within stream of labeled neutrons, which passed through vessel with diamond-bearing ore. Ore supply system is provided with at least one vessel having cross-sectional shape, corresponding to cross-section of labeled neutrons flux, configured to contain portion of diamond-containing ore to be irradiated in neutron block. Flux of labeled neutrons in neutron block is in form of truncated pyramid and, accordingly, vessel also has shape of truncated pyramid. Separation system is configured to direct portion of diamond-containing ore irradiated in vessel, or to concentrate, or in tailings by control system comands, depending on data detected by system analyzing presence or absence of diamond (-s) in said portion of diamond-containing ore.
EFFECT: achieved result is increase in sorting productivity due to possibility of detecting diamond hidden in piece of ore before its crushing, which helps to prevent damage to large diamonds.
