FIELD: transport machinery.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transport engineering. Structural element for an automotive body comprises a hollow steel main body having a closed cross section. Main body comprises a hardened point in the axial direction, point with a hardness of the base metal, and a transition point located between the hardened point and the base metal hardness point in the axial direction. Transition point is formed in such a way that the strength varies from the strength of the point with the hardness of the base metal to the strength of the hardened point. In the case where the cross-sectional area of the main body is (A) and the moment of inertia of the area of the main body is (I), the length (L) of the transition point in the axial direction satisfies the relation of the following equation (1): 0.006 (mm-1) < LA / I ≤ 0.2 (mm-1) .... (1).
EFFECT: higher rigidity of constructional element.
