SUBSTANCE: invention relates a bed arrangement and is aimed at increasing the comfort of a user on a spring bed. Bed arrangement, having adaptive properties, comprises a mattress, a drive unit, at least one sensor and a control unit. Mattress comprises a number of coil springs, arranged in separate pockets to define a pocket spring mattress, and comprises at least one portion with independently adjustable firmness. Drive unit is designed to control the firmness of said at least one portion. Sensor is designed to measure a physical parameter, which is associated with a lying position, taken up by the user.

EFFECT: control unit is designed to identify, on the basis of input signals from said sensor, the current lying position of the user, wherein the lying position can be identified as one of a set of at least two predetermined lying positions, and to control the drive unit to adjust the firmness of the portion in accordance with a predetermined firmness value, corresponding to the identified lying position.
