FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: in the process, the fraction containing lithium and iron phosphate containing an aluminium content of up to 5 wt % and a particle size of up to 500 mcm is introduced into sulfuric or hydrochloric acid, the amount of which is, at least, stoichiometrically equal to the content of lithium in the fraction, with the addition of hydrogen peroxide in an amount, at least, stoichiometrically equal to the amount of iron to be oxidized in the fraction. The separated solution and washing solutions containing lithium sulfate or chloride are combined and converted to lithium hydroxide by electrodialysis using bipolar membranes.

EFFECT: maximum energy efficiency of the process, stability of equipment and increased purity of lithium compounds.
