FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composite material and to a method of manufacturing the same. Method comprises creating reinforcing thermoplastic layers impregnated with a polymer melt, a binder comprising chopped fibers, wherein the reinforcing layers of the composite are fabric or fiber, a binder for impregnation, including chopped fiber of a larger diameter, is added to an interlayer between the reinforcing fabric or fiber layers, reinforcing layers are bonded by inserting chopped fiber segments into the reinforcing fabric or fiber layers and tightening them into the voids of the reinforcing layer, preferably in the vertical direction, wherein the length of the chopped fiber segment is 0.05–1.0 of the thickness of the fabric or fiber layer, and the layers are connected by crimping.
EFFECT: invention provides for creation of a composite material having increased strength.
