FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to the method for the preparation of 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane (HCC-240fa) from carbon tetrachloride and vinyl chloride, during which the vinyl chloride (VCM) vapour bubbling is carried out into the liquid reaction mixture to the reactor with liquid CCl4 by means of a gas diffuser and interaction with the metallic iron as a catalyst and one or more trialkyl phosphate compounds as a cocatalyst. Moreover, metallic iron has the shape, which is selected from the group that consists of iron powder, iron balls, iron wire, iron turnings. Cocatalyst is selected from the group, which consists of tributyl phosphate, trimethyl phosphate, triethyl phosphate, tripropyl phosphate and mixtures thereof.
EFFECT: technical result is the prevention of polyvinyl chloride formation and undesirable yield loss, monitoring of exothermic effects.
