FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the electrolytic production of aluminum in electrolytic cell with prebaked anodes and can be used during the period when the cell is put into operation and when the cell is taken out of service. In the method for producing aluminum with baked anodes, which includes the formation of an anode array of anodes with baked anode blocks during the starting period and the replacement of the anodes during the starting, post-start periods and the period of cell taking out, according to the technical solution, the anode array is formed during the starting period from anodes with typical anode blocks and from anodes with anode blocks, the height of which is less than the height of a typical block, the replacement of anodes in the starting and post-start periods is carried out with anodes with anode blocks whose height is less than the height of the typical block, while in the starting period the replacement is started from anodes with anode blocks having the lowest height, and during the taking out period the replacement of the anodes on the switched-off electrolytic cell is finished by replacing anodes with anode blocks of the lowest height. During the starting period and during the period when the electrolytic cell is taken out of service, anodes with anode blocks of 0.5÷0.75 height of a typical block are used for replacement.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is reduction of the amount of a burnt spent anode butt at any number of anodes in the anode array and under any anode replacement scheme; increase in the uniformity of the thermal field of the cell, which minimizes the perturbations introduced by the replacement of the anodes.
