FIELD: pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of treating chronic cough such as idiopathic or treatment resistant cough, method for reducing neuronal hypersensitivity underlying acute, subacute or chronic cough, and method for treating cough or irresistible desire to clear throat associated with respiratory disease. Each of these methods comprises administering an effective amount of compound of formula (I) (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. In the compounds of formula (I), R1 is hydrogen or optionally substituted with halogen atoms C1-C6alkyl, propynyl, and R2 denotes C1-C6alkyl; C2-C6alkenyl; amino; aminosulfonyl; C1-C6alkylaminosulfonyl; halogen; amide selected from aminocarbonyl, di(C1-C6alkyl)aminocarbonyl, aminocarbonylamino, C1-C6alkylcarbonylamino or C1-C6alkylaminocarbonylamino, phenylaminocarbonylamino, carbonylamino; haloC1-C6alkyl; C1-C6alkoxy; haloC1-C6alkoxy; nitro; oxy-C1-C6-alkyl; C1-C6-alkoxyC1-C6alkyl; C1-C6alkylsulfonyl; cyano or C1-C6alkylcarbonyl. Compound has the properties of a P2X3 receptor antagonist and / or a P2X2 / 3. Preferably, the compound of formula (I) is administered in an amount of about 600 mg twice daily for about 2 weeks. Compounds are also suitable for the treatment of persistent chronic or daytime cough. In this case, the cough can decrease by about 75 %. Invention also relates to use of compound of formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for the preparation of medicament for the treatment of chronic cough, or cough treatment and irresistible desire to clear throat associated with respiratory disease, or to treat the hypersensitivity of neurons underlying peraacute, subacute or chronic cough.
EFFECT: invention also relates to medicament for said use comprising, as active ingredient, compound of formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
