FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: in the process of sorting the charged particles in a quadrupole three-dimensional ion trap mass spectrometer by the method of mass-selective instability, the distance between the end electrodes is changed so that the ionization and accumulation of ions is carried out in a linear quadrupole field, and the sorting in a nonlinear quadrupole field with positive even components. As a result, the sensitivity of the method increases and the discrimination on mass decreases. The shift of electrodes is carried out due to the introduction of a mass spectrometer of small-sized high-speed precision motors into the design.
EFFECT: increase sensitivity and reliability of mass spectrometer analysis.
