FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of non-ferrous metals by nonmechanical methods and can be used to deplete zinc in a sludge composition, which is one of the main metal galvanizing waste. Method is carried out in a hot dip galvanizing bath. Sludge after each galvanizing operation is taken to the end of the galvanizing bath, where it settles. Spreading of sludge on the surface of the melt is excluded due to its limitation by a metal partition. Heating of pieces of zink sludge is carried out at the expense of the temperature of molten zinc 440–460 °C in a process bath for 20–30 minutes. Zinc losses with production waste are reduced from 85 % to 76–77 % and reduction in yield from 6.1–6.2 to 5.6–5.7 kg/t of galvanized products.
EFFECT: reduction of zinc losses.
