FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forensic medicine and can be used to determine the age of an unidentified child corpse by fragments of a child's neck along an isolated thyroid cartilage of the larynx. To determine the age of infants by the linear dimensions of the isolated thyroid cartilage of an unidentified corpse, linear length measurements (in mm) of the upper horn (DDA) height of the lateral plate (VBP), the upper and lower width of the lateral plate (HSBP and NSHB, respectively) and the thickness of the lateral plate (TBP) of the thyroid cartilage. Obtained data are used to calculate the child's age by the formula of the regression equation Bp = 62.49 × DDA + 134.82 × VBP + 149.91 × HSBP + 137.76 × NSBP – 316.72 × TBP – 4301.86. Results are calculated in days, and after dividing the result by 365, the child's age in life corresponds to his age in years.
EFFECT: invention provides reduction of time and material expenses for identification of the deceased due to reduction of the number of performed medical genetic examinations.
