SUBSTANCE: in order to determine the sex of an unidentified child corpse aged 8 to 12 years, the distance between the superior and inferior thyroid tubercles within a single plate is examined. When establishing the distance between the superior and inferior thyroid tubercles within one plate more than 16.4 mm, the female sex of the unidentified child corpse is determined.
EFFECT: accuracy of determining the sex of an unidentified child corpse is increased by identifying the anatomical and morphological features of the thyroid cartilage.
