FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the protection of ships over the electric field and concerns the issues of operational control of the resistivity of the electrically insulating coating (EIC) of the ship hull afloat with the help of a system of probe electrodes placed on the underwater part of the ship hull that are isolated from the ship hull and connected to a special electrical circuit. Current and potential of the electric field, which is alternately excited by each of the probes in the marine environment adjoining the hull, are measured in the circuit of each probe. Specified measurement cycle is performed twice: immediately after docking the ship (reference measurement) and during the ship operation (check measurement). Average value of the specific transverse resistance of the EIC obtained in the dry dock is added to the results of the reference measurement. Values of the specific transverse resistance of the ship hull EIC at the probes locations at the time of the check measurement are calculated by joint processing of the reference and the check measurements data.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to determine the resistance of the EIC in various locations of the hull while the ship is afloat.
