FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device (options) for parothermal oxidation of surfaces parts made of metals and alloys. Article and the surface to be oxidized are covered with a water layer of a given thickness. Surface covered with water is affected by laser radiation having a wavelength for which water is a relatively transparent medium. Energy and density of the energy flux of the laser radiation and the time of radiation of the surface are chosen so as to ensure penetration of laser radiation through the water layer and heating the surface to at least the temperature that creates a phase transition of water into vapor.
EFFECT: technical result is increased wear resistance, corrosion resistance, dielectric, heat-shielding and decorative characteristics of various articles, increased rate of the oxidation process without reaching the critical temperature by the main part mass, expanded spectrum of metals and alloys that are acceptable for this type of processing, as well as increased processability of the oxidation process, including the possibility of local processing only the working portion of the part, by eliminating the need for a specialized chamber and the part cooling phase.
