FIELD: defectoscopy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of the railway rails ultrasonic non-destructive testing. Method consists in mounting of three inclined electroacoustic transducers on the rail rolling surface, displaced from the rail longitudinal axis in the direction opposite to the railhead working face. Two of them are directed mirror-wise relative to the rail cross-section plane so that the ultrasonic sounding signal of each of them, after reflection from the lower fluting, will hit the rail head rolling surface. Passed through the rail head ultrasonic oscillations are taken by a line of elementary receiving electroacoustic transducers placed in wheel converters with an elastic shell. Number of receiving transducers in the lines is selected based on the required resolving power, scanning the rail head. Conclusion about the presence, degree of development and orientation of microcracks on the rail head rolling surface is made on the basis of the received by electro-acoustic transducers signals joint analysis. Third electroacoustic transducer, oriented across the rail head to the lower head fluting, by signal time position from it allows to control the electroacoustic transducers position relative to the rail axis, and by the amplitude envelope of this signal to evaluate the acoustic contact quality.
EFFECT: increasing the any orientation microcracks on the rail head rolling surface detection reliability and accuracy.
