SUBSTANCE: in the final purge step, when the amount of injected oxygen becomes greater than 85% of the designed value, the amount of removed carbon from the converter metal becomes greater than 85% of the total carbon removed, and CO content of the waste gases is equal to or less than the CO2 content, calculation of carbon content in steel is carried out every single moment by mathematical dependence CCT2=0.063244165+0.00001273X1+0.0000159X2-0.000769477X3, where X1 - CO2 content of waste gases, X2 - content of CO in waste gases, X3 - the time from the moment when the content of CO≤CO2 until the purge is completed, and the purge is stopped if the actual carbon content in the converter steel deviates from the set carbon content value below 0.005%.
EFFECT: use of the invention makes it possible to increase the quality of the steel produced in the result of converter smelting.
