FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; oxygen converter process.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes charging scrap, loading slag-forming components, pouring molten cast iron, blowing with oxygen, introduction of carbon in way of decarburization bath to concentration of 1-2.5 of critical concentration, pigs consisting of material containing iron oxides, carbon-containing and slag-containing components poured by iron-carbon melt. Pigs are introduced in the amount of 0.5-5% of mass of metal and are kept in melt till complete dissolving. Ratio of carbon content to oxygen content shall be maintained within 0.4-3.1. Pigs may be introduced in bath at ratio of 1: (0.1-5). Proposed method provides for reduction of consumption of gaseous oxygen, ferroalloys and slag-forming materials and enhances resistance of lining at reduced content of iron oxides in slag.
EFFECT: increased rate of oxidation; reduced blowing time; increased yield.
