SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power plant engineering. Method of piston impacts prevention against the single-cylinder, free-piston external combustion heat engine cylinder walls, including piston, control system, exhaust valve and shock absorber. According to the invention, with the piston movement from the motion starting point to the motion extreme point, control system opens the exhaust valve at the moment of time, which ensures the piston stopping at the extreme point of motion, and with movement from the motion extreme point to the motion starting point, the piston's motion energy is absorbed by the shock absorber installed between the piston and the cylinder end.
EFFECT: invention provides prevention of piston impacts against the cylinder walls.
