FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of large thicknesses workpieces laser welding. Welded metal workpieces are fixed on the welding table or on the bay of the portal installation. Welding is performed by directing the laser beam into the junction between the workpieces, supplying the feeder of the filler wire or, in the case of hybrid laser-arc welding, welding torch with a consumable electrode. For 5–10 seconds before the laser is turned on and the movement starts along the joint, switching on the magnetic field acting longitudinally on the melt. Create the constant magnetic field inductors are synchronously moved with the laser beam and the arc torch along the seam.

EFFECT: by means of the molten metal longitudinal mixing the generated magnetic field promotes mixing, penetration and even distribution of the alloying chemical elements, which are part of the supplied filler wire, to the entire depth of the weld metal, which provides the high mechanical and operational properties of the welded seam.
