FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrometallurgy and can be used for precision welding, surfacing and parts manufacturing using 3D printing. Method of spatial stabilization of plasma arc channel by laser radiation is implemented as follows: laser beam generated by diode, passing through collimator, is directed to area of arc discharge perpendicular to arc axis. As a result of absorption of laser radiation with intensity q≤100 W/cm2 arc discharge plasma is polarized, and due to action of ponderomotive forces spatial position of arc is stabilized. Range of power density values is selected experimentally: with power density less than 50 W/cm2 sufficient stabilization of arc is not observed; at power density higher than 100 W/cm2 no further positive effect is observed.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the method of spatial stabilization of the arc.
