FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises measuring "pipe-ground" potential difference at all test points of the examined pipeline section and determining the transition resistance of the pipeline wrapping at the sections between the test points. After measuring the "pipe-ground" potential difference in the operating mode the first additional potential offset (APO) is created briefly by increasing the protective current force and the "pipe-ground" potential difference is measured at all the test points of the examined pipeline section. Using the obtained values, the transition wrapping resistance is determined and, as a result of comparison with the permissible standard value, the pipeline wrapping state is estimated. In order to verify the obtained results, the second APO is created briefly on the examined pipeline section. The second APO is created at another cathodic protection unit, nearest to the pipeline section between the test points, where the wrapping resistance value is in a poor or unsatisfactory state. If such sections have not been identified, the second APO is created at any other cathodic protection unit.
EFFECT: invention allows to simplify the monitoring of the pipeline wrapping state due to the absence of necessity for measuring the natural, stationary pipe-ground potential difference.
