FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to assessment of technical condition of external insulating coating of underground pipelines. Essence: on the main pipeline the area of insulating coating state control between two control points is selected. Operation modes of two cathodic protection stations (CPS) adjacent to the selected section are varied and coefficients of its influence on the value of protective difference of potentials "pipe-ground" at the control point are found. Characteristic resistance is found in selected section (Z) by formula
where A21 is coefficient of current CPS No. 2 influence on protective difference of potentials "pipe ground" in control point 1; A11 is coefficient of current CPS No. 1 influence on protective difference of potentials "pipe ground" in control point 1; A12 – coefficient of current CPS No. 1 influence on protective difference of potentials "pipe ground" in control point 2; A22 is coefficient of current CPS No. 2 influence on protective difference of potentials "pipe ground" in control point 2; by value of which state of insulating coating is determined.
EFFECT: shorter time for assessing the technical state of the insulating coating, enabling remote determination of the state of the insulating coating.
