MARINE EXHAUST GAS SCRUBBER Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC B01D53/18

Abstract RU 2654027 C2

FIELD: separation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a scrubber and a method for cleaning exhaust gases from marine vessels. Scrubber comprises a lower and an upper scrubbing chamber, the scrubbing chambers being substantially symmetric about a common length axis being substantially vertically arranged, wherein the exhaust gas outlet of the lower chamber is located at the top of the lower scrubbing chamber in the form of a coaxial narrowing and is designed to divert partially cleaned exhaust gases from the first scrubbing chamber and supplying said gases to the upper scrubbing chamber, an exhaust pipe that extends substantially coaxially through the bottom of the bottom scrubbing chamber and opens into said lower scrubbing chamber, wherein the exhaust gas outlet passes coaxially through the top of the upper scrubbing chamber, wherein above the opening of the exhaust pipe there is a lower scrubbing chamber deflector, which serves to deflect exhaust gases to the walls of the scrubber and create a turbulent gas stream. Deflector comprises two oppositely directed straight cones having a common base and a common axis of rotation coinciding with the longitudinal axis of the scrubber, and above the deflector of the lower scrubbing chamber there are one or more water injectors of the lower chamber that are located substantially along the longitudinal axis of the lower scrubbing chamber and are designed to introduce scrubbing water into the exhaust gas stream, wherein one of the water injectors located below the exhaust gas outlet of the lower chamber is directed upward towards this outlet, wherein the exhaust gas outlet of the lower chamber is in the form of a bottle neck.

EFFECT: invention reduces content of environmentally hazardous substances in exhaust gases.
