FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: usage in electric power engineering. In the relay protection method, all network modes are divided into two groups. Protection is intended to respond to the first group, and not on the second one. Relay protection is trained to ensure its selectivity. It is trained not to respond to the modes of the second group. Role of the trainer is assigned to the simulation model of the electrical network, which includes an energy object. Observed electrical quantities are converted into a two-dimensional signal which is displayed on its own plane. According to the method, in contrast to the known technical solutions of this type, where each mode of a real object or its simulation model is represented by a point on the plane of a two-dimensional signal, each mode is displayed with a hodograph – a geometric place for displaying the changing two-dimensional signal during the observation time. At the preliminary stage of the protection training, display area of the mode hodographs reproduced by the simulation model is determined. These are the modes of the second group. Their displays create a blocking area. In its function, it prohibits operation of relay protection. After training, when protection operates on a real object, its behavior obeys a number of conditions arising from the relationship of the hodograph of the observed mode and the existing blocking area.
EFFECT: wider functionality of the method and increased speed of the relay protection that implements it.
