In the method for starting an internal combustion engine in a hybrid power train, the rotating components of the first and second planetary gear are separated from each other; do not allow the rotation of at least one gear pair that is connected to the first planetary gear and the output shaft, and at least one gear pair which is connected to the second planetary gear and the output shaft. Then, the output shaft is not rotated and the first electric machine or the second electric machine is activated such that an internal combustion engine is started.
