SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chroma subsampling of high dynamic range (HDR) images. Technical result consists in providing chroma subsampling with reduction of artifacts of contour blur while maintaining other image characteristics. Disclosed is chroma subsampling, having reduced artifacts, to provide, by detecting high contrast areas in the image brightness channel, segmenting the image into a first high-contrast region and a second region different from the first region, with chroma subsampling in the first region using a first chroma subsampling unit and chroma subsampling in the second area using a second chroma subsampling unit.
EFFECT: first subsampling module has the property of retaining a higher sharpness of the edges than the second subsampling unit.
