SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the lever gripping devices, in particular to a tongs gripper for pipes and other cylindrical objects. Pipe monkey contains a cross-over bar holds, that are hinged connected, one of the bar holds is equipped with an elongated lever with a counterweight and a block. Counterweight is movable along the lever, and the other bar hold’s lever is provided with a bracket that is connected to the unit of the first bar hold lever by means of a load chain, thus forming a mechanism for compressing the bar holds. By means of an elongated lever and a counterweight moving along it, it is possible to change the position of the center of gravity of the grip, which leads to the inclination of the bar holds relative to the horizon line and allows the trapping yoke to be positioned at the desired angle to the horizon.

EFFECT: ensuring the possibility of the pipes grip that lie in the stack is reached.
