FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for remote monitoring of an oil slick formed under ice during an emergency oil leakage from an underwater oil pipeline. Essence: in point (3) of oil leakage from underwater oil pipeline (2) magnetic material is supplied in a fine-dispersed state. Along with the oil, the magnetic material spreads under ice (7), forming spot (6) of a certain thickness and dimensions. Boundaries of oil spill spread are judged from the intensity of the magnetic field measured by the magnetometers over the surface of the ice. If it is not possible to locate the location of the oil leakage from underwater oil pipeline (2), fine-grained magnetic material is fed directly to well (1) or to underwater oil pipeline (2) to oil leakage point (3).
EFFECT: determination of the location and size of the oil slick under the ice.
