FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of measurement technology and relates to a method for measuring the characteristics of a magnetic field. Method includes placing a diamond crystal with NV centers in the region of the measured magnetic field, directing the electromagnetic band of the optical band to the crystal, leading to spin polarization of the NV centers, and recording the fluorescence signal. In addition, an alternating magnetic field oriented in a predetermined direction is applied to said crystal at least once, the dependence of the fluorescence signal on the magnitude of the variable magnetic field for each direction of this field is measured. On the obtained dependence, the positions of the resonances corresponding to the coincidence of the transition frequencies between the ground-state sublevels pertaining to different groups of NV centers are recorded. According to the positions of the resonances determine the characteristics of the measured magnetic field.

EFFECT: technical result consists in simplifying the method and making it possible to carry out measurements without the use of microwave radiation and strong permanent magnetic fields.
