FIELD: measuring equipment; nucleonics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radiation monitoring (RM) and is intended for the search (detection and location) of ionizing radiation sources (IRS) by small-scale mobile complexes of the RM in the event of radiation accidents, loss or illegal handling of IRS and radioactive waste, during radiation monitoring of territories. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that the method for searching for ionizing radiation sources (IRS) contains stages in which the search for IRS is carried out in two stages: first solve the problem of detection of IRS, and then – the problem of localization of the detected IRS. In this case, the solution of both problems is carried out with the help of the same detection equipment by changing its structure for each stage of work.
EFFECT: increase in sensitivity and noise immunity of detection and localization of IRS.
