FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of radiation monitoring (RM) and is designed to search, detect and confine sources of ionizing radiation (IRS) with ground or marine mobile RM complexes and stationary RM devices. The substance of the invention consists in the fact that the method to search, detect and confine (location detection) of IRS by means of detection of the point of crossing of detected lines-directions at IRS from two different places using detection devices, equipped with screens-radiation absorbers, and a rotary platform, kinematically connected to a motor, at the same time they measure, using each of at least two identical detection devices installed on the platform with input windows directed towards opposite sides, forming a sharp dihedral angle, the average speeds of signal and background additive sum count, they calculate difference of produced values of count speeds, the non-zero value of which means the fact of IRS detection, and with platform rotation they achieve the minimum of this difference, and by the angle of platform rotation they determine direction towards the detected IRS.

EFFECT: creation of efficient method to search, detect and determine location (confine) of IRS with increased accuracy under conditions of non-stationary radiation background.
