SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to generating a key image from a medical image, wherein the key image comprising an image area selected from the medical image. System comprises a data medium containing stored on it and computer-implemented instructions to induce the processor system to perform the method for generating the key image from the medical image, wherein the key image comprising an image area selected from the medical image. Method comprises: obtaining the medical image and metadata indicating the content of the medical image; access to anatomical information in a medical database, wherein the anatomical information indicates anatomical landmarks associated with the content of the medical image; detection of damage to the anatomical structure on the medical image; based on the anatomical information, identification of the anatomical landmark, which has an anatomical relationship with the indicated damage; detection of the anatomical landmark on the medical image; selection of the image area on the medical image, which contains the indicated damage and the anatomical landmark; and generating the key image containing said image area.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides an automatic generating of the key image from the medical image.
