FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. System for visualizing a three-dimensional image of an anatomical structure comprises: an image data interface for accessing volumetric image data; a display processor for: generating a first type of volumetric image, wherein the first view is geometrically given by a first viewing plane crossing the three-dimensional image, and an anatomical structure surface is shown on the first view; determining location on surface based on position of screen indicator; determining the local orientation of the surface within the three-dimensional image by analyzing the data on the three-dimensional image and generating the second type of the three-dimensional image based on the local orientation determined for the location on the surface, wherein the second view is geometrically set by a second viewing plane intersecting the anatomical structure surface on the volumetric image orthogonally at said location on said surface; a display data output device and a user interaction subsystem.
EFFECT: technical result is improved quality of visualization of three-dimensional image of anatomical structure.
