FIELD: fire retardant materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to flame retardant silicone compositions intended to protect a person, stationary and moving objects from the effects of flame and high temperatures in the presence of oxygen. Method for creating a flame retardant siloxane composition comprises combining and mixing the silicone rubber with carbon black and a reactive additive, applying the composition to the surface and curing at room or elevated temperature. Chemically active additive contains various functional compounds and combinations thereof. Under the influence of flame, the composition slightly burns into the depth, considerably increasing the non-flammable, porous, refractory, heat-shielding layer above its surface due to volatile compounds containing silicon that are released from the composition.
EFFECT: after exposure to fire, the composition remains elastic, tight and has excellent properties in terms of heat protection and burning.
