FIELD: water treatment technology; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used to neutralize the acidification of the processed natural waters – fresh, marine, oceanic ones. Methods for controlling water acidification include bringing at least one melanin material into contact with water and catalyzing the reaction between water, CO2 and/or bicarbonate, resulting in the formation of glucose and the increase in the pH of the treated water. Upon reaching a predetermined pH of the water, at least one melanin material is removed from the water. Melanin material is selected from the group consisting of melanin, melanin precursors, melanin derivatives and melanin analogs of artificial or natural origin, wherein the melanin material can be incorporated into at least one inert material. Methods for water pH adjusting are intended primarily for the treatment of seawater, acidified because of natural or artificially induced reactions that increase the concentration of free hydrogen ions in water, for example, as a result of water absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
EFFECT: invention provides an efficient recovery of the acid-base balance of the treated waters.
