SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of obtaining a water-soluble melanin pigment from the basidiomycete Inonotus obliquus, which has antiviral activity against influenza and HIV-1 viruses. A method of obtaining a water-soluble melanin pigment from the basidial fungus Inonotus obliquus, which has antiviral activity against influenza viruses and HIV-1, includes the use of strain F-1375 as the basidial fungus Inonotus obliquus, cultivating it on a liquid agar nutrient medium containing agar- agar, glucose, yeast extract, tryptone, KH2PO4, K2HPO4×3 H2O, MgSO4×7 H2O and water to obtain the biomass of the mycelium of the fungus in the culture liquid, hydrolysis of these components, followed by purification, drying and obtaining a water-soluble melanin pigment, while the liquid agar nutrient glucose-tryptone medium additionally contains tyrosine, with the following quantitative content of these components per 1 l solution at pH 7-8: agar-agar 20 g, tyrosine 10–20 mmol, glucose 30 g, yeast extract 5 g, tryptone 10 g, K2HPO4×3 H2O 4,4 г, MgSO4×7 H2O 0.25 g, water is the rest.

EFFECT: above method provides a twofold increase in the yield of melanin, as well as the production of an antiviral agent based on melanin, which has a higher activity against human immunodeficiency viruses and influenza.
